THE METHOD

Sense
and Sensibility

NOT TO LAUGH,
NOT TO LAMENT,
NOT TO DETEST,
BUT TO UNDERSTAND.

(BARUCH SPINOZA)

The social sector shows itself in its places, in its realities and reveals its own peculiarities of a priori representations beyond judgements and prejudices. By interpreting the complexity of contexts, the main paradigm of our interventions is generated and creates the background and identity of the projects we implement.

Phenomena and territories are then at the origin of an approach that investigates and discerns, before defining a frame for problems and practice of intervention. There is no pre-established indication on how to approach the different social themes and therefore an open and complex vision allows us to build specific interventions every day. The latter tries to keep the pace with the constant evolution of the social sector and maintain some fundamental elements of principle and continuity, such as the competencies, the attention to relations, both in relation with the context or territory and with a group or an individual and an environmental vision of the concept of empowerment.

The method draws inspiration from the model Action Research and aims at analysing and interpreting contexts, organizations, relationships and phenomena through innovative practice.

ACTION RESEARCH

Action Research (AR), in our connotation, moves from the belief that it is not possible to distinguish the analysis, the study and the explanation from the intervention on the spot. In our vision, the AR is the shared construction of knowledge and it is not finalised exclusively to raising knowledge. It becomes a collective and cooperative reflective action aiming at transforming organizational contexts and removing the causes that generate exclusion, marginalization within the society as well as individual and collective discomfort.

INNOVATION

Given the major social and anthropological changes that characterize the late modernity, we believe it is fundamental to surrender to continued critics and monitor the approaches, the methodologies and the techniques we use in our work. This means constantly changing and improving the social action, by quickly detecting the new fields that demand public policies and absorbing the changes that occur in the already existing phenomena of discomfort and exclusion.

TERRITORY AND SUBSIDIARITY

The territorial context is the main workshop of our social action, as we find it fundamental to participate, as a collective actor, to the construction, the maintenance and the advocacy of the local welfare, by cooperating with institutions and public services according to the subsidiarity principle. Thus, we intend to continue cooperating for the cultural and democratic development of the city, through opportunities to exchange knowledge, conflict mediation and by making visible the discomfort, the people who experience it and the possible solutions to it.
