Centro Specialistico Ambulatoriale di Consulenza Alcol attivo nel territorio della ASL RM 1

Trecentossessantagradi

SUMMARY
TRECENTOSESSANTAGRADI is a specialist outpatient centre for alcohol consultation, active in the territory of the ASL RM 1.
Alcohol consumption is closely linked not only with specifically individual factors, such as stress or particular life events, psychopathology, etc. but also with ‘models of socially shared meaning’ that bring the various parties to connote normality in terms of the use/abuse of alcohol. The project aims to influence these patterns of meaning that guide both individual and collective behaviour, through the dissemination and promotion of social practices that put together “process -person-context-environment".
The overall objective of the service is to increase awareness of the risks and alcohol-related diseases through primary prevention interventions, development and consolidation of a network of services, building a synergy and a shared culture between the different network nodes, and the development and processing of applications that arrive at the Centre.
1.    The prevention intervention is based on the model of psychosocial and methodologies of peer education.
The therapeutic intervention refers to an integrated multimodal and multidisciplinary approach. After a phase of clinical evaluation, an individual therapeutic parallel activitation and coordination of the network of local services is defined, in accordance with the model of Case Management.

BRIEF HISTORY
The project has been running since June 2012 and is part of the regional framework of interventions and experimental services and innovations that the Lazio region has started to enrich a therapeutic scheme in the context of pathological addictions in the territory of Rome and Lazio.

OBJECTIVES
Information and Awareness
The particular objective of the intervention is to promote a greater awareness about the connotation normality linked to drink, at specific targets (general practitioners, teachers and secondary school students, young people and operators of community centres and recreational facilities, youth and employees of driving schools): only acting on the same connotation that will be put in place in order to grasp the information that the path of awareness aims to give.
Network promotion, monitoring and verification of the intervention process.
1.    Another specific objective is to build a synergy and a shared culture (also  through participation in integrated training sessions) between the different network nodes  self and mutual help groups,  local authorities, general practitioners  DSM, other public centers and/or private social) that there may be a greater ease in encouraging submissions, monitoring and verifying the paths of  the individualized intervention, in understanding the evolution of the phenomenon within the specific territory, allowing them to govern the orientation of policies.
Treatment for people and their families.
The first goal of the intervention is, of course, to take individual care of the questions from the users and their families that are received in the Centre. The treatment, built in close collaboration with the local services, provides specific answers depending on the type of questions.

METHODOLOGY OF INTERVENTION
The project takes as its methodology for creating contact, the promotion of trust and maintaining a relationship with the users, a model of proven effectiveness. This is the model of case management tried and proven scientifically, tailored to the actual needs of the user, of the person, including (in the logic of taking care of and in line with the methodology of the “Analysis of the Application”), the involvement of the network of specific local services. This methodology integrates two different systems of intervention:
1.    1. the individual system, developing in the same process of self-management and empowerment, aimed at greater use of empowerment to the user with respect to his/her problems, as well as with respect to his/her resources;
2.    2. the institutional system that offers support, treatment, and other resources to the user.
3.    The two systems in this type of methodology, are effectively coordinated, and include :
1. a ‘vertical’ moment that concerns the individual himself/herself and is divided into the following phases :
• counselling and the assessment of the case
• planning of the intervention, and the formulation of the necessary support
• the construction of a therapeutic alliance
• the implementation of the intervention
• monitoring -  understood as the control and optimization of the intervention
• documentation and evaluation of results
2. a ‘horizontal’ moment that is related to:
• demand analysis
• needs analysis
• resource analysis of the context
• handling and coordinating resources
• the expansion of the network.

TOOLS AND ACTIVITIES
• Psychological and medical counselling, taken care of on an individual basis.
• Short, medium and long term treatment.
• Consultation and family therapy.
• Informative and therapeutic groups, aimed at users and families.
• Career awareness and peer education for specific targets : schools, driving schools, parishes, and educational centres.
• Awareness, information and the involvement of general practitioners.
• The promotion of the network and building a synergy and knowledge sharing between the
   different connections.
